A UK court blocked a software company from collecting research and development tax credits after determining the firm’s spending didn’t seek to break new ground in science or technology.
The First-tier Tribunal (Tax) ruled in a decision published Wednesday that Tills Plus Ltd. shouldn’t have collected £390,000 ($507,429) in R&D credits that His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs paid out to the company because the spending in question involved combining existing technology or products rather than developing something new.
