The UK is exploring making digital invoicing mandatory for business transactions, according to a consultation document published by the tax authority Thursday.
His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs opened a consultation to gather views until May 7 on standardizing and increasing use of electronic invoicing across UK businesses and the public sector.
E-invoicing is a digital exchange of invoice information between buyers and sellers. The UK doesn’t have a mandate for e-invoicing among business-to-business or business-to-government transactions, except for suppliers of the National Health Service.
