UK Invites Governments to Join New Carbon Border Tax Panel

The UK invited other governments to nominate officials to join an international group it’s forming to engage stakeholders on its carbon border tax.

The new group will be “an opportunity for countries most impacted” by the levy to understand how the new tax functions, the UK Treasury said in an official statement Tuesday.

The tax, known as a carbon border adjustment mechanism, or CBAM, is a levy on imported carbon-intensive industrial goods from countries with lower or no carbon price.
