The UK tax authority isn’t planning to update its guidance for people who overstay or are unable to return to the Middle East because of the ongoing Israel-US war on Iran.
Tax advisers are cautioning clients not to assume they can disregard extra days spent in the country because of the conflict. Individuals could become exposed to UK taxes, including on their worldwide income, given the lack of explicit guidance from His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, tax professionals say.
