UK Seeks Input on Reporting Rules for Digital Sales Platforms

The UK is seeking input on draft regulations to implement new requirements for digital platforms to collect information on sellers and share it with the tax authority.

The rules would require operators to collect, verify, and report details of sellers on online platforms, and share the information with His Majesty’s Revenue and Custom, the agency said. HMRC would then exchange the information with other tax authorities as part of efforts to tackle avoidance, it said.
