The UK tax authority said Tuesday it actually lost £49 million ($63 million) in an organized-crime phishing attack last year—a bit more than the £47 million officials first reported last week.
The disclosure came shortly after a parliamentary committee sent a letter asking why His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs hadn’t informed Parliament about the organized crime incident sooner, given that it involved a significant loss of public money.
