The UK tax authority has paused penalty notices for late filings of corporation tax returns due to a system upgrade, it said on Thursday.
The upgrade will be completed by June 30, allowing it to implement higher penalties for late filings, His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs said in its monthly agent update.
HMRC warned companies “may receive a penalty notice later than usual if they file late — a delayed notice does not mean no penalty applies.”
