UK To Tax Vape Products, Raise Air Passenger Duty: Hunt

The UK government confirmed the introduction of an excise duty on vaping products from October 2026, Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt said in the Spring Budget Statement.

• Also announced introduce a one-off increase in tobacco duty
• Separately, will make a one-off adjustment to rates of air passenger duty on non-economy flights
• “We believe that in a free society the money you earn doesn’t belong to the government. It belongs to you. And if we want to encourage hard work, we should let people keep as much of their own money as possible”, Hunt says
