UK Treasury Must Review Tax Office’s Digital Plans, Advisers Say

The UK Treasury should use the upcoming Autumn budget to launch a review of the tax office’s digital program, two leading advisory groups wrote to government on Tuesday.

The Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Association of Taxation Technicians wrote a joint letter on Tuesday raising concerns with the tax office’s Making Tax Digital program. The letter flagged major issues with the process including missed outcomes, ongoing delays, and growing costs.

Both organizations are calling for Treasury to launch a review of the MTD program next week.
