UK Workers Hit With Biggest Wage Tax Hike of Any OECD Country

UK workers were hit with the highest increase in tax rates on wages of any wealthy country last year, according to a new report, as the Labour government has come under pressure to lighten Britain’s tax burden.

An average single worker with no children saw their tax rate increase by 2.45 percentage points to 32.4%, the report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development found. That included income tax as well as employer and employee social security contributions, minus cash benefits.
