The United Kingdom Low Pay Commission Nov. 21 announced increases in the national minimum wage and national living wage rates, effective April 1, 2024. The hourly minimum wages are increased to: 1) 11.44 British pounds (US$14.27) from 10.42 pounds (US$13.00) for workers 21 years and older; 2) 8.60 pounds (US$10.73) from 7.49 pounds (US$9.35) for workers 18-20 years old; 3) 6.40 pounds (US$8) from 5.28 pounds (US$6.59) for workers 16-17 years old and apprentices; and 4) 9.99 pounds (US$12.46) from 9.10 pounds (US$11.35) for the accommodation offset.
