United Kingdom Tax Agency Updates Guidance on Import VAT

The United Kingdom HM Revenue and Customs Aug. 31 updated guidance on deferring payments of import VAT, excise duty VAT, excise duties, and other obligations. The guidance is updated to remove information concerning VAT returns from Jan. 1, 2021, to amend guidance on import VAT, and to revise contact information. The updated guidance includes: 1) the conditions for deferring import VAT payments for one calendar month to the 15th of the next month, or to the next business day after that if the 15th isn’t a business day; and 2) payment procedures for import VAT.
