The US and Croatia signed a protocol amending the income tax treaty between the two countries to incorporate double tax relief and benefit limitation changes, the Treasury Department announced Tuesday.
The protocol incorporates key amendments to bring the 2022 tax treaty into conformity with current US law and reflect discussions with the Senate on double taxation relief rules.
Amendments include adopting a treaty-based definition of “active conduct of a trade or business” for limitation on benefits, revised double taxation relief obligations for the US, and an update to the non-discrimination article.
