VAT Issue Looms in Talks for New Coalition Government In Italy

A VAT hike set to take effect in Italy at the end of the year has become a key issue in talks over forming a new coalition government.

Italy’s leftist Partito Democratico says it will form a new government with the Five Star Movement only if Five Star signs an agreement to block the value-added tax increase as one of five non-negotiable points.
