Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance has proposed reversing an increase in environmental protection taxes on gasoline and oil during 2026 amid concerns the incoming tax rise will strain businesses.
The current environmental tax rate is set to increase on Jan. 1, 2025, for several oil and gas products. Gasoline will increase to VND 4,000 (16 cents) per liter, and jet fuel to VND 3,000 per liter, among others.
