Vinci, Eiffage Challenge New French Tax on Their Business: Echos

Vinci, Eiffage and Sanef lodged an appeal with France’s highest administrative court against planned taxes on the “operation of long-distance transport infrastructure,” Les Echos reports Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the case.

  • Complaint is twofold: highway operators seek to challenge the taxes on grounds of an “excess of power” as well as on a constitutional basis, calling for equal tax treatment
  • Les Echos says text would have raised €600m in its first year, with €500m coming from highway operators and rest from French airports as well as Calais port
