European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday assigned Wopke Hoekstra the tax portfolio for the commission’s next five-year mandate.
At the same time, she handed other policy areas—such as reporting obligations and energy taxation—to other commissioners.
If confirmed, Hoekstra, now the commissioner for climate action, will continue in that role with the addition of the tax portfolio.
