Von Der Leyen: to Present Proposal on Energy Taxes in May

The European Commission will put forward legislative proposals on electricity taxes and grid charges in May, the institution’s president Ursula von der Leyen tells reporters in Brussels.

• Adds further measures are planned including:
  • Coordination of gas storage filling among member states, so they don’t compete, coordination of oil stock releases
  • Presenting next week a communication on energy including:
  • Outlining “best practices” on income support schemes, while a new temporary state aid framework should be adopted this month
