The Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) announced a new sales and use tax exemption for purchases of certain retail services by schools and libraries. Starting July 1, 2026, public libraries, library districts, library service centers, K-12 schools, school districts, and educational service districts will be exempt from retail sales and use tax on purchases of services, such as information technology, custom website development, live presentations, investigation and security services, temporary staffing, and custom software development and customization.
