Washington Enacts Law Amending Nonprofit Housing Property Tax Exemptions

The Washington Governor signed a law amending multiple sections of the Revised Code of Washington, to ensure nonprofit housing providers maintain their property tax exemption when their property is temporarily used for certain community purposes other than affordable housing. The law includes: 1) modifying exemption qualification requirements; 2) clarifying which properties are exempt from certain provisions; and 3) establishing different renewal declaration procedures for various types of nonprofit organizations.
