Alabama DOR Issues Guidance on Individual Income Tax Returns Filing, Payment Deadlines

The Alabama Department of Revenue (DOR) March 18 issued guidance on income tax filing deadlines. The DOR provides: 1) for an automatic extension of up to six months to file Alabama income tax returns whenever there is a corresponding federal extension; 2) taxpayers won’t need to request an extension to file individual income tax returns without a late-filing penalty through the extended federal due date; 3) that it will automatically waive, without request, late-payment penalties for payments remitted by May 17; and 4) that it isn’t authorized to waive interest, and any interest accruing from April 15 through the actual ...
