The Alabama Department of Revenue (DOR) Feb. 27 issued information about a lodging tax rate increase in the city of Selma, for excise tax purposes. The DOR provides that the general lodging tax rate increases to 9 percent from 6 percent, effective March 1. The rate is one-half of the stated rate if the renting or furnishing of rooms, lodgings, or accommodations to temporary guests is made outside the city’s corporate limits but within its police jurisdiction.
