The Alabama Department of Revenue (DOR) Aug. 16 issued a notice regarding the sales tax certificate of exemption for hearing instruments. The DOR states that the sales tax exemption for hearing instruments, including hearing aids, begins Oct. 1, 2024, and ends Sept. 30, 2029. The DOR also states that the exemption does not apply to county or municipal sales or use taxes unless approved by a resolution or ordinance adopted by the local governing body. [Ala.
