Amazon, Other Retailers Seem to Sway NY Court in Sales Tax Case

Amazon.com Inc., Best Buy Co., Target Corp., and Adorama Inc. appear poised to escape unpaid sales tax claims after a panel of New York appellate judges during oral arguments Thursday seemed unmoved by a whistleblower’s position.

Whistleblower RD Litigation Associates LLC alleges that the retailers owe millions of dollars in sales tax on manufacturer discounts they passed on to consumers in a bid to gain a price advantage over competitors.
