Apple Owes Tax for Discounted iPhones, Maine High Court Finds

Apple Inc., owes at least $539,238 in taxes and interest for sales of iPhones sold at a discount as part of a package with a wireless carrier, Maine’s high court has ruled.

Apple paid sales tax on the discounted price of the phones but it should have paid taxes on the full price of the phones, because it was reimbursed up to the full price by the wireless carriers, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court found.
