The Arkansas Governor April 11 signed a law revising the procedure for redeeming a land forfeited to the state for nonpayment of property taxes. The law includes measures: 1) listing the documents and payments that a taxpayer must submit to request a redemption to the Commissioner of State Lands; 2) providing for the establishment of a fee for producing a redemption deed; 3) providing that a redemption deed shall serve as proof of payment to the commissioner and doesn’t convey or change the legal ownership to the property redeemed; and 4) clarifying what the county collector shall do upon receipt ...
