Australia’s government is consulting on the country’s corporate tax regime as part of a wide-ranging look into its economy.
The country’s governmental Productivity Commission is leading the consultation, which launched Monday.
“Australia would benefit from a simpler and more efficient tax system. This would improve after-tax returns available to businesses and support investment,” the commission said in a statement.
- Earlier reviews of the country’s corporate tax system by academics, think tanks and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development had repeatedly recommended changes its corporate tax arrangements, the commission said.
