The Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance Feb. 17 posted Federal Finance Court Decision No. RV/1100362/2022, clarifying the taxation of various pension income. The taxpayer, an Austrian resident, received domestic pension income and accident-related pensions from Liechtenstein and Switzerland following a 1987 workplace accident, which resulted in an Austrian-certified 70 percent disability requiring special transport authorization. The Tax Office treated the Liechtenstein accident insurance pension as fully taxable, and the taxpayer appealed.
