Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is coasting to reelection after her main opponent quit the race, giving her a commanding mandate that’s putting city business leaders on edge.
The progressive Democrat defeated Josh Kraft by a wide margin in September’s preliminary contest, despite a record fundraising haul for the challenger. While Kraft received some big checks from out-of-town friends of his billionaire father, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, most of the more than $10 million raised by the campaign and his super political action committee came from executives and others in the Boston area.
