The California Governor signed a law that includes: 1) authorizing, until Dec. 31, 2031, the County of Los Angeles to levy a Transactions and Use Tax at a rate not to exceed 0.5 percent for general and special purposes, subject to voter approval; 2) authorizing, until Dec. 31, 2031, the County of Contra Costa to levy a Transactions and Use Tax at a rate not to exceed 0.625 percent for general or specific purposes, subject to voter approval; and 3) authorizing that the combined county tax rates can exceed the 2 percent limit.
