California BOE Clarifies Sunset Date for New Solar Energy System Construction Exclusion

The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Aug. 26 issued a letter to county assessors clarifying the sunset date for the new construction exclusion for active solar energy systems. The BOE stated that the exclusion will remain in effect until January 1, 2027, unless this date is further extended. The BOE clarified that after the exclusion sunsets, all property which had previously been subject to the exclusion will remain excluded from property tax until ownership of the property changes.
