The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Dec. 23 issued a notice correcting and republishing the 2024 through 2025 income levels for determining eligibility for the welfare exemption. The notice provides updated income limits for elderly/handicapped rental housing, low-income rental housing, and “over-income” tenants at 140 percent and 100 percent of area median income (AMI) to address inconsistencies where the low-income limit exceeded the AMI in certain counties. The revised limits take effect as of the Jan. 1, 2024, lien date. [Cal. State Bd. of Equalization, Letter to Assessor, No. 2024/047, 12/23/24]
