The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDFTA) June 3 released a guide on reporting out-of-state purchases for sales and use tax. The guide provides: 1) the purchaser’s responsibility to report and pay use tax for purchases made from out-of-state companies that do not charge tax; 2) exemptions from use tax; 3) how to pay use tax; and 4) additional excise taxes and fees.
