The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) published a notice announcing routine inspections of cigarette and tobacco products to verify compliance with laws, provide education, and reduce tax evasion, effective Jan. 1, 2026. The inspection ensures that cigarettes have valid California tax stamps, tobacco products are listed in the California Attorney General’s Tobacco Directory, and that businesses possess the required permits, accounts, and licenses.
