California CDTFA Issues Notice on Excise, Sales Tax Rates for Diesel Fuel Changes

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration on Sept. 1 issued a special notice on diesel fuel sales and use and excise tax rates. The notice provides that: 1) effective Oct. 1, 2022, through Sept. 30, 2023, A.B. 194 added a temporary partial sales and use tax exemption of 3.9375 percent on the sale, storage, use, or other consumption of diesel fuel; and 2) the prepayment rate for diesel fuel for the period Oct. 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023, is also being revised to reflect the new sales tax rate.
