California CDTFA Issues Special Notice on Covered Electronic Waste Recycling Fee Effective January 2020

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration Sept. 1 issued a special notice on covered electronic waste recycling (eWaste) fee rates for excise tax purposes. Effective Jan. 1, 2020, the eWaste fee decreases for covered electronic devices due to adjustments approved by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery. The rates are decreased to: 1) $4.00 from $5.00 for eWaste between 4 inches and 15 inches; 2) $5.00 from $6.00 for eWaste between 15 inches and 35 inches; and 3) $6.00 from $7.00 for eWaste over 35 inches.
