California CDTFA Releases Sales Tax Form CDTFA-230-M, Partial Exemption Certificate for Manufacturing, Research, Development Equipment

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration Sept. 1 released Form CDTFA-230-M, Partial Exemption Certificate for Manufacturing and Research and Development Equipment. A.B. 398 and A.B. 131 amended a section of the Revenue and Taxation Code, which provides a partial sales and use tax exemption for certain manufacturing and research and development equipment. The certificate is revised to conform to the statutory changes, which provide a 4.1875 percent exemption from July 1, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2016, and a 3.9375 percent exemption from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2030.
