The California Governor July 9 signed a law adding provisions on the Mental Health Crisis Prevention Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund. The law includes measures: 1) allowing individuals to designate on tax returns that a voluntary contribution in excess of their individual income tax liability, if any, be made to the fund; 2) allowing a deduction for any contribution made to the fund; 3) specifying that the designation must be made for any taxable year on the original return for that taxable year and once made is irrevocable; 4) maintaining the provisions in effect until Jan. 1 of the seventh taxable ...
