The California Governor Aug. 22 signed a law authorizing individual income tax return information sharing and outreach. The law includes measures: 1) requiring the California Health Benefit Exchange to annually conduct outreach and enrollment efforts to individuals who indicate on their returns that they are interested in no-cost or low-cost health care coverage; 2) requiring the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) to include, on or after Jan. 1, 2023, a checkbox for taxpayers to indicate on their returns that they are interested in no-cost or low-cost health care coverage; and 3) authorizing the FTB to share information from individual tax returns ...
