The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) has published a special notice announcing reporting requirements for interstate carriers using alternative fuels like electricity, hydrogen, and hythane under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). Interstate carriers must register their qualified motor vehicles propelled by these alternative fuels for an IFTA license and decals, and report all miles driven and fuel purchased on their IFTA returns.
