California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is renewing his push to join New York in allowing whistleblowers to report alleged tax fraud.
The Democrat and Assemblyman Mark Stone (D) said they are introducing a new version of a bill that failed in 2019 to extend the state False Claims Act to apply to tax matters. They said business groups that opposed last year’s bill misunderstand how it would be used.
