An employee of a former southern California auto body shop is responsible for the company’s sales tax liabilities because he held himself out as an officer and knew the taxes were going unpaid, a state panel ruled in an opinion released Monday.
Reynaldo T. Monzon owes the state more than $20,000 in sales tax, interest, and penalties that Prestige SNJ Xpress Auto Body of Lake Forest Inc. failed to pay for 2017-2018, the California Office of Tax Appeals ruled in an opinion marked as pending precedential.
