Colorado Advances $34 Million in Tax Breaks to Lure Sundance

Colorado is moving quickly to lure the Sundance Film Festival across the border from Utah, after a legislative committee Wednesday approved a bill offering the festival $34 million in refundable state income tax credits.

The state House Business Affairs & Labor Committee voted 12-1 in support of HB25-1005, which provides tax benefits aimed at the film festival beginning in 2027. The credit would be available through 2036 and is capped each year for an aggregate total of $34 million.
