Colorado voters approved a ballot measure that lowers income tax deductions for higher-income households to fully fund free breakfast and lunch for all public school students.
Proposition MM—approved by 58% of voters—will increase state tax revenue by $95 million annually to cover the cost of the free meals. Any leftover funding from the program will go toward covering new state expenses to administer the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps.
