Connecticut Lawmakers to Weigh Property Tax Relief Possibilities

Connecticut lawmakers will consider proposals this legislative session to lower taxpayers’ burden from property taxes, which a new study identified as one of the state’s most regressive forms of taxation, the co-chair of a key General Assembly committee said.

The study’s data show that “the big problem in our system is our property tax,” which is partially a function of Connecticut’s reliance on local governance, with 169 municipalities setting their own tax rates, Rep.
