Connecticut Sports Betting Delayed as State Awaits Federal OK

Connecticut sports betting will have to wait, despite the state’s best efforts to launch before Thursday’s NFL season kickoff.

Officials delayed the start when the U.S. Interior Department didn’t approve a gaming compact between two federally recognized tribes and the state by Thursday as required in the agreement. Under a bill signed earlier this year by Gov. Ned Lamont (D), sports betting is to be legal in tribal-controlled casinos, with a 13.75% tax on gross revenue.
