Daimler Says California Double-Counts Income From Car Leases

Daimler North America Corp. is getting more time to convince the California Franchise Tax Board that it’s owed $37.5 million in tax refunds because its income from car leases in the state has been double-counted.

At the end of a public hearing Monday, the three-member board postponed making a decision for 45 days on Daimler’s request to deviate from the standard formula for apportioning its income to California compared with income in other US states.
