Ohio is cruising toward the first increase in its gas tax in 14 years, following a compromise struck between its GOP leaders April 2.
The Buckeye State’s gas tax will increase 10.5 cents (up to 38.5 cents-per-gallon) and its diesel tax will rise by 19 cents (up to 47 cents-per-gallon). The changes came in House Bill 62, the state’s Department of Transportation budget passed by the House and Senate April 2. The bill increases overall fuel tax revenue by about $865 million annually.
