Debate Over ‘Other Taxes and Fees’ in Kansas Marketplace Bill (1)

Kansas lawmakers are considering a bill that would require marketplace facilitators to collect and remit sales and use taxes if they have more than $100,000 in sales to buyers in the state.

The measure (H.B. 2657) is on the Thursday agenda of the state’s House Committee on Taxation for possible action. The vote would follow testimony and debate during an online meeting Tuesday on the bill, which would establish the tax filing obligation with a sales threshold for online marketplace platforms such as Amazon, eBay and Etsy.

But it remains unclear whether Kansas will establish a similar threshold ...
