District of Columbia Tax Office Announces Property Taxpayers Can Apply for Homestead Exemption Online

The District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) Jan. 25 announced that it added real property taxes to the MyTax.DC.gov website on Dec 7, 2020. Property owners may complete a number of tax transactions on the updated site, such as applying for the Homestead/Senior Tax Exemption. The OTR provides resources to help property owners navigate the homestead application process, which include: 1) information on the homestead deduction, disabled senior citizen, or disabled property tax relief qualifications; 2) a tutorial on applying for the exemption; and 3) a link to the MyTax portal.
